FLS Deanship suggested establishing Writing Centers in all branches, and the University exerted all possible effort to establish a center in each branch. The writing center offers free service and support to all AOU students. The tutors are assigned to schedule appointments with any AOU student who encounters any problem in writing and follow up with the student till the end of the semester to track his/her progress. The tutor documents the student’s continuous improvement for the record to any other tutor who takes over. Now BA and MA students can equally benefit from the services provided in these centers. The writing centers are centrally managed and formally supported by the university branches. The writing centers helped a great deal in improving the quality of the students’ work. Indeed, virtually all external examiners, i.e., BA and MA External Examiners, have praised the impact of the Writing Center on improving students’ writing and enhancing their critical thinking skills.
With the outbreak of the COVID19 pandemic, the FLS Dean decided to start a digital writing center across branches where any AOU student can actively interact with any tutor across branches via the CLMS. The schedule of all tutors’ office hours is available on the digital writing center on LMS for all AOU students.
