Operation, Maintenance and Facilities
The Operations, Maintenance, and Facilities Department is responsible for the efficient management, operation, and maintenance of all university facilities, as well as overseeing the execution of development projects. Its primary objective is to ensure a safe, productive, and high-quality learning environment by optimizing the performance of university facilities, maintaining systems and equipment, and ensuring continuous functionality at the highest standards. The department is supported by a skilled team of in-house staff for specific tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operations: The department manages the day-to-day operations of all university facilities, including classrooms, laboratories, and service areas, ensuring the continuous and effective availability of essential services.
- Maintenance: It oversees the upkeep of campus systems and equipment, including electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, through preventive and regular maintenance programs, as well as addressing immediate repairs to minimize breakdowns and ensure the longevity of facilities.
- Facilities Management: This includes managing all university infrastructure such as buildings, green spaces, and parking areas. The department ensures these areas are well-maintained, clean, and functional, creating an optimal environment for work and study. It also provides logistical support for university events.
- Project Development: The department is responsible for overseeing all development projects on campus, including the expansion or upgrading of existing facilities in line with the university's strategic plans. Projects are planned and managed according to engineering standards and approved timelines.
- Safety and Emergency Management: Ensuring a safe environment is a priority by applying rigorous health and safety standards across campus facilities. The department is also responsible for emergency preparedness, including fire safety, flooding, or other operational hazards, ensuring a swift and effective response during crises.
