Dr. Mahmoud Gaber Abdelfadeel is an Associate Professor of English Literature at the Faculty of Education, Arab Open University, Egypt. He earned his Ph.D. in English Literature in 2009 with a dissertation on the alienated self in Brian Friel’s plays, following a 2005 M.A. thesis examining August Wilson’s dramatic vision of the African-American community. His academic interests include modern and contemporary drama, literary criticism and theory, postcolonial and psychoanalytical studies, and English language teaching for non-specialists. Over more than two decades of university teaching, he has taught a wide range of courses such as modern drama, British literature, academic writing, literary theory, and English for specific purposes across several Egyptian universities and faculties.
Alongside his teaching, Dr. Gaber has held numerous academic and administrative roles, including departmental leadership, program directorships, editorial positions in specialized journals, and participation in national assessment and curriculum design projects. He has authored multiple textbooks, in addition to publishing extensively on contemporary drama, trauma studies, postdramatic theatre, and psychoanalytic literary criticism in academic peer-reviewed journals. Through this combination of research, teaching, and academic leadership, he is contributing actively to both literary scholarship and the development of English language education in higher education contexts.
